Hope College "Day to Serve"

Saturday, September 2, was Hope College's "Day to Serve" where over 500 student volunteers go out in small groups throughout the Holland Community to help out various organizations such as Holland Civic Theatre.  This year, we had eleven volunteers who trimmed trees, scraped and painted the outside of the building, touched up paint on the inside of the building, transplanted flowers and groundcover, and began a project in the basement.  Bill Hoffmann, HCT's Building and Grounds Manager, gave an overview and tour of HCT, and provided tools and project supervision for the students.   One lucky student got to assist Deborah Ozga and Margo Kendall on a trip to the Prop Shop and Costume Barn to return items from Midsummer Night's Dream and hunt down costumes and props for the upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors.  Thank you to our eleven student volunteers which included:  Erin Van Oordt, Jenny Moreau, Stacia Thompson, Katherine Moor, Jenny Kellogg, Jeff Mastin, Michael Ruszkowski, Beth Barnadyn, Tyler Depke, Leif Nelson, and Patrick Murray
